| Give all of your contract details and any previous activity in a short and simple to-the-point covering letter. | ||
| Telephone before you send anything. Find the recipients name, don't send product to a company without a contact name. | ||
| Follow-up with a telephone call 10 days after sending your CD. | ||
| Only send material that is of the type that a publisher or record company specialises in. If you don't know, then find out. | ||
| Don't spend time and money making the perfect demo. If you have a good song, someone will recognise it. Let them hear the music and the words - not your opinion of how it should be arranged, produced or performed. | ||
| If you are trying to place an artist, send a few photographs and some biographical details. | ||
| DON'T GIVE UP - if you have talent, someone will find it, KEEP PERSEVERING. The world is full of people who have turned down major hits and award winning acts. | ||
